Communication in Inuit Communities

This is a video that we have prepared explaining our methods of communication in Inuit camps of the past and now in our village. There are a couple interesting things that we forgot to mention in our video. We have an FM radio station. Often when people are looking for someone in the village they will announce on the FM for them to call somewhere specific. It is used in a much different way than in the south. When people go out on the land camping, fishing, or hunting they often use satellite telephones, they are similar to a cell phone but much more expensive. Satellite phones are usually only used in emergencies. Also, in the days of tents and igloos people would tap on the centre pole in a tent using Morse code to communicate with a neighbouring tent.

Sports in Quaqtaq

This is a video that our class made about Inuit sports in the past and present. It is a response to a post by some of Ms. Catchpaw's students titled Basketball. We all worked very hard on this video, writing the script, taking the pictures, and of course recording our voices. We hope that you enjoy our video!

Food Choices in Quaqtaq

This is our response to a voicethread titled Fast Food Restaurants by a couple of Ms. Catchpaw's Grade 6 students. We hope you enjoy our video. This video talks about our food choices here in Quaqtaq. You may need to adjust your volume at times. Thank you and enjoy!
